Normally, around this time of the year we would be celebrating Mohegan Lake Day—with fun activities like the kids’ fishing derby, boat races, storytelling, music, kids’ games, floating lanterns, and fascinating guest speakers. But the health crisis of COVID 19 is challenging everyone to come up with new strategies to do things while keeping everyone safe.
Therefore, this year we are extending Mohegan Lake Day to last an entire weekend, with a mix of (safe) live activities and virtual celebrations of life around our lake. We hope you all will take part in some way, whether it’s decorating your boat, dock, or lakefront plot; submitting photos of your art or handcrafted items or or videos of what Lake Mohegan means to you; or paddling around the lake to listen to the music and admire your neighbors’ handiwork. And try to find all of the treasures in the scavenger hunt!
Be sure to keep an appropriate distance from others, and protect each other by wearing a mask. And join us in celebrating our lake community.
